As Pesach nears and we are all busy with the hustle and bustle of preparations, please do not forget to “sell your chometz”. This is a very small, easily accomplished mitzvah but it means a great deal.
By filling out a simple on-line form which takes about 60 seconds to do, you legally forfeit ownership of any “chometz” – leavened products – which you might have in your possession. This includes all breads, pastas, alcoholic beverages, etc., all products forbidden for us to have in our possession during Passover. If you don't sell the chometz you must physically finish all of these products or throw out whatever you might have. With this “sale” – all you've got to do is put the chometz in a closed off area (e.g. a locked closet, a sealed off room) which you will not use during Passover, and you're good to go! So take moment to fill out the form. It's well worth the minute it takes! Click here and make sure to submit the form BEFORE 11 AM SUNDAY MORNING, APRIL 1st.
Also, make sure your family has a box of hand made Shmura Matzah to use at the seders. This is considered to be a special mitzvah. Shmurah Matzah is available at King Kullen in Port Washington and Manhasset.
Have a kosher and joyous Pesach!

Today, Friday, March 30, we celebrate the birthday of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, of righteous memory: 11 Nissan 5752 (1902) - 3 Tammuz 5754 (1994). It was the Rebbe's tremendous and boundless love and care for every single Jew that is the driving force of the Chabad movement today and continues to touch and inspire Jews throughout the globe!
One hot Sunday afternoon in the summer of 1991, an elderly lady was patiently waiting her turn in the long line of Jewish women and girls from all walks of life, each one anticipating the moment of receiving the Rebbe's blessing and dollar bill to be given to tzedakah.
When her turn finally arrived, this lady blurted out in her simple Yiddish, “Rebbe! I've been standing here for only an hour and I'm already exhausted. You have been standing here for hours and hours, and just look....!”
The Rebbe smiled gently and said, “When you are counting diamonds, you don't get tired.”
