A Word From the Rabbi

Dear Friends,

Sara and I want to thank all who came out to join us at the bris our son, Yisrael Aryeh Leib (to be called Leibel). It means so much to us that people took the time to come out right in the middle of a Friday (albeit Shavuos) to celebrate this wonderful gift that Hashem has given us. May we have plenty of opportunities to join in each other's simchas - joyous occasions.

Thank you to the volunteers – Leah Shaina Lewis (& sister) and Sheindil Feinland, plus of course Rabbi Mendy and Devorah Lewis for doing a great job with the kids during the Shavuos ice cream party event, as well as pulling off another successful ice cream/Ten Commandments party in the evening for the Hebrew School kids.

Thanks again to all who joined us at the annual dinner. What a great event that was! I am still getting congratulations on the amazing event, especially on the children from the C.A.S.H. choir under the leadership of Steven Cahn and Helen Greenblatt. They certainly struck a chord with people. Thank you to all who went out of their way to help.

Rob, your photo collages which adorned the entire lobby and hallway was a hit. People stood there looking at every little picture. So was your slide show during dinner. Gary Wallin, really outstanding – as usual. Alan, great job with the bentching. Enjoy your well deserved Yankee tickets – what mazel! Thank you Lida and Joseph for making the raffle happen and putting in so much time and energy into it.

To all the volunteers who brought in journal ads. Marshall , thanks for nudging everyone until they came through with their ads. Thanks to those who gave time at the dinner to run around and sell raffle tickets, Debbie, Mojdeh, Sharon, Karen, who else… I'm sure I'm missing lots of people, all are so appreciated. It all came together to produce a truly magical event. Check out the link on this email to view the pictures of the night – courtesy of Avner Katzav of Avidon Photography.

Thank you all & best wishes for a good Shabbos!

Local Chabad-Lubavitch Rabbi dubbed by White House to lead Prayer on behalf of Jewry

On the 55th anniversary of The National Day of Prayer at The White House, May 4, 2006, Rabbi Sholom Ciment, Spiritual Leader of Chabad-Lubavitch of Greater Boynton in Palm Beach County, Florida has been chosen to lead the prayers in The White House on behalf of World Jewry.

To be held in the East Room of the White House, and carried live by all national Media outlets, this National Day of Prayer's history dates back to the first declaration of a day of prayer and fasting by George Washington to President Lincoln's call for prayer and fasting during the Civil War. President Ronald Reagan signed the current law in 1988, marking the date at the first Thursday in May of each year.

The event will be led by President Bush. Rabbi Ciment commented... CONTINUE

Thought for the Day

The Little Things
Submitted by Michael Mueller

As you might know, the head of a company survived 9/11 because his son started kindergarten. Another fellow was alive because it was
his turn to bring donuts.

One woman was late because her alarm clock didn't go off in time. One was late because of being stuck on the NJ Turnpike because of an auto accident. One of them missed his bus. One spilled food on her clothes and had to take time to change. One's car wouldn't start. One went back to answer the telephone. One had a child that dawdled and didn't get ready as soon as he should have. One couldn't get a taxi.

The one that struck me was the man who put on a new pair of shoes that morning, took the various means to get to work but before he got there, he developed a blister on his foot. He stopped at a drugstore ! to buy a Band-Aid. That is why he is alive today.

Now when I am stuck in traffic , miss an elevator, turn back to answer a ringing telephone ... all the little things that annoy me. I think to myself, this is exactly where God wants me to be at this very moment..

Next time your morning seems to be going wrong , the children are slow getting dressed, you can't seem to find the car keys, you hit every traffic light, don't get mad or frustrated; God is at work watching over you.

May God continue to bless you with all those annoying little things and may you remember that you are always in Gods care.

Daily Thought
The Now

There is no moment more vital than the one right now. There is no space more crucial than the one in which you stand.

For this is the moment and this is the place from which Moshiach may come.

The Parshah In a Nutshell
Parshat Naso

Completing the head-count of the Children of Israel taken in the Sinai Desert, a total of 8,580 Levite men between the ages of 30 and 50 are counted in a tally of those who will be doing the actual work of transporting the Tabernacle.

G‑d communicates to Moses the law of the "Sotah", the wayward wife suspected of unfaithfulness to her husband. Also given is the law of the Nazir who forswears wine, lets his or her hair grow long, and is forbidden to become contaminated through contact with a dead body. Aaron and his descendents the Kohanim are instructed on how to bless the people of Israel.

The leaders of the twelve tribes of Israel each bring their offerings for the inauguration of the altar. Although their gifts are identical, each is brought on a different day and is individually described by the Torah.

Jewish Humor

A policeman spots two youngsters riding a motorcycle. They are unmistakably Hassidic: yarmulke, payoth, tzitzis, the works.

He is unmistakably a bigot, so he follows them intending to catch them doing some kind of wrong. After a long ride during which they went onto the highway and then onto many side roads, he could find nothing wrong with their driving. Frustrated, he stops them anyway.

"I have been following you two for a long time now, watching every move you made and hoping to catch you breaking the law, but you two seem to be perfect. How do you do it?" They replied "G‑d is with us." "That's it!" exclaimed the policeman, "There are three on this motorcycle!"
