Harry D. “Hersh” Cohen is a Managing Director, Senior Portfolio Manager and Co-Chief Investment Officer for ClearBridge Investments. Hersh has 45 years of investment experience, beginning his career with a predecessor organization in 1969 as a portfolio manager. He is best known as the manager of the ClearBridge Investment Appreciation Fund for 31 years, during which the fund outperformed the S&P on a compounded basis. The fund was named to the exclusive Forbes Honor Roll eight times.

Throughout his career, Hersh has managed all types of portfolios, and developed a reputation for preserving capital during the most difficult markets. For example, when the technology bubble burst in 2001 – 2002, the Appreciation Fund scored as one of the top ten core funds of the year in the Lipper rankings. In 2008, Hersh and his partner, Scott Glasser, were nominated as finalists for Morningstar’s Domestic Stock Manager of the Year. He currently co-manages the ClearBridge Equity Income Fund and the ClearBridge Dividend Strategy programs.

Hersh received his B.A. from Western Reserve University in 1962, and a Ph.D. in Psychology from Tufts University in 1966. He held a post-doctoral fellowship in Neurosciences from the National Institutes of Health at Albert Einstein College of Medicine.

Throughout his career, he has been sought after for his investment advice and experience. Hersh has been cited by Barron’s, Morningstar, Lipper, Forbes, FundFire and many other organizations for his investment knowledge and market insights. He is also a frequent guest on PBS WealthTrack with Consuelo Mack and has been a guest on Wall Street Week among other financial shows. Perhaps most importantly, he has earned a reputation among clients and financial advisers as being open and accessible.
