Following graduation from Harvard College and the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Dr. Brownstein prepared in the specialties of Internal Medicine and Dermatology, and the sub-specialty of Dermatopathology. He served as a Captain in the United States Army and as a Clinical Professor at Mount Sinai Medical School. He was elected President of the American Society of Dermatopathology, President of the Dermatologic Society of Greater New York, and President of the Long Island Dermatology Society. Ninety of his medical articles were published in peer-reviewed journals. He has lectured in five continents and has co-directed international meetings in several states and in London and Amsterdam. Dr. Brownstein directed The Laboratory of Dermatopathology on Plandome Road in Port Washington for several decades and retired from practice a few years ago.
