A word from the Rabbi

The preparations for this year’s Annual Dinner are well underway. Watch your mailboxes and inboxes for the invitation. This year’s event promises to be something very special, and quite different, as the event will take place at the Talon Air hangar at Republic Airport.

As guests will mingle and enjoy gourmet kosher cuisine with Neshomo Orchestra providing musical backdrop, they will be offered tours of some of the spanking new, shining aircraft from the Talon Air fleet. The “airline” theme will carry over to the theme of the evening: “Onward & Upward” as we celebrate Chabad’s growth over the past 17 years in Port Washington, including the current new building which is already “off the ground”.

Talon’s CEO and Chief Pilot Adam Katz, who will be hosting the dinner, announced yesterday that exciting charter plane and helicopter trips will be offered at the dinner as part of the silent auction! There are some more surprises in store as well.

Congratulations to Jim and Sandra Neuwirth for being named Parents of the Year to be honored at the Dinner. Port Washington Schools Superintendant will be the Guest Speaker. Our devoted Dinner Chairmen Howard Fensterman. This will be a very exciting and interesting evening. Stay tuned!

Shabbat Shalom!

Rabbi Shalom M. Paltiel

Short Video of our Community’s Visit to Rebbe’s Gravesite
Our community commemorated the Rebbe’s yahrzeit with a tribute event on Sunday, June 29th. Following the event, more than 25 people traveled (aboard the Chabad school buses) to visit the Rebbe’s Ohel (gravesite) for prayers and blessings. The official international Chabad news site Chabad On Line (COL) filmed our group and put together a moving short video of our visit including some reaction from our people. the parshah in a nutshell
ParshatMassei

The forty-two journeys and encampments of Israel are listed, from the Exodus to their encampment on the plains of Moab across the river from the Land of Canaan.

Also in Massei: The boundaries of the Promised Land are given, and cities of refuge are designated as havens and places of exile for inadvertent murderers. The daughters of Tzelafchad marry within their own tribe of Menasseh, so that the estate which they inherit from their father should not pass to the province of another tribe.

Daily Thought
Supermind

Intellect can orbit about the truth forever, but it doesn't have feet to land. There is a faculty, however, that doesn't need to travel to find Truth. For which truth was never hidden or obscured. For it is a native of Truth from birth.

It is not blind faith. It is an inner vision. It is not mind, but even more essential to our very being. It is the foundation from which meaningful thought begins and with it all things resolve. For it knows intimately that which the mind can only peer at through the shifting clouds.
