Construction Update:
Construction has resumed this week after an interruption of a few months. The pilings are being capped which will immediately be followed by the cement foundation being poured to prepare for the steel frame. A large trailer has been set up at the back of the building to serve as additional much needed space for our day school during the construction period.

Mikvah update:
Many people have been asking when they expect for the mikvah to finally open. The mikvah is basically completed, with a few minor things being completed now. The issue is that a high tide seems to have brought water into the mikvah from underneath and caused a leak, which is absolutely not kosher. A mikvah must be completely tight with zero leakage whatsoever. At this point in time, the contractor seems convinced that he has found a company that can fix this problem. Time is needed to test each experiment to see if leakage continues or if it dries up, hence the long delay here. We will keep you posted. We hope to be able to report good news and schedule of opening within the next few weeks.

Hebrew School

Click here to meet our Hebrew School Staff

With Labor Day weekend behind us, we once again find ourselves immersed in back to school shopping and other preparations for the kids' much beloved return to school. Whether we're recovering from the barbeque or begrudgingly returning to work, one thing is for sure: the kids are going back to school and mom and dad get a much deserved rest."

Here at Hebrew School , I can tell you that enrollment forms have been rolling in by land, air and sea. Our round-the-clock team of application processors has their hands full and if things keep up at this rate I think the US Postal service is actually going to designate a postal van exclusively to Chabad (an honor accorded only to the President) in order to handle the massive influx of Hebrew School enrollment forms.

Daily Thought
Sustained Wonder

This is the meaning of a Jew and Judaism, the very meaning of the word: To live in a state of sustained wonder. To know that there are things beyond human grasp. That the very existence of anything at all is beyond knowing. And then to strive to know.

The Parshah In a Nutshell
Parshat Ki Tavo

Moses instructs the people of Israel: When you enter the land that G‑d is giving to you as your eternal heritage, and you settle it and cultivate it, bring the first-ripened fruits (bikkurim) of your orchard to the Holy Temple, and declare your gratitude for all that G‑d has done for you.

Our Parshah also includes the laws of the tithes given to the Levites and to the poor, and detailed instructions on how to proclaim the blessings and the curses on Mount Grizzim and Mount Ebal — as discussed in the beginning of the Parshah of Re'ei. Moses reminds the people that they are G‑d's chosen people, and that they, in turn, have chosen G‑d

The latter part of Ki Tavo consists of the Tochachah ("Rebuke"). After listing the blessings with which G‑d will reward the people when they follow the laws of the Torah, Moses gives a long, harsh account of the bad things — illness, famine, poverty and exile — that shall befall them if they abandon G‑d's commandments.

Moses concludes by telling the people that only today, forty years after their birth as a people, have they attained "a heart to know, eyes to see, and ears to hear."
