Ever witness a miracle?
We read about them in Torah, but wouldn't it be great to witness them in real life!?
Truth is every breath of life is a miracle... But you already knew that. What about a REAL miracle, a beyond natural event?
Take a few minutes, sit back and watch the video clips below. It warmed my heart, thought I'd share it with you.
Shabbat Shalom,
Rabbi Shalom M. Paltiel
P.S. Attention JLI students (and anyone interested in Torah study): I'm giving a torah class on Sunday mornings, from 10-11AM in the social hall. It takes place every Sunday until JLI resumes, in two weeks on the 27th.

Are Lefties Sinister?
By: Rabbi Aron Moss | Sydney, Australia
Question: The word 'sinister' is Latin for 'left-handed.' Many ancient cultures saw left-handedness as a handicap, and would try to "convert" lefties to righties. What does Judaism have to say about being left-handed?
ANSWER: There is clear proof from the Torah that being left-handed is not an imperfection, and on the contrary can even be an advantage...

Of Lice and Men
Too little attention has been paid to the use of humor in the Torah. Its most important form is the use of satire to mock the pretensions of human beings who think they can emulate G‑d.

Where do we go? What is heaven and hell? Do we ever get sent back for a second life? Is there any way to make contact with a departed loved one?

Parshat Va'eira
G‑d reveals Himself to Moses. Employing the "four expressions of redemption," He promises to take out the Children of Israel from Egypt, deliver them from their enslavement, redeem them, and acquire them as His own chosen people at Mount Sinai; He will then bring them to the land He promised to the Patriarchs as their eternal heritage.
Moses and Aaron repeatedly come before Pharaoh to demand in the name of G‑d, "Let My people go, so that they may serve Me in the wilderness." Pharaoh repeatedly refuses. Aaron's staff turns into a snake and swallows the magic sticks of the Egyptian sorcerers. G‑d then sends a series of plagues upon the Egyptians.
The waters of the Nile turn to blood; swarms of frogs overrun the land; lice infest all men and beasts. Hordes of wild animals invade the cities; a pestilence kills the domestic animals; painful boils afflict the Egyptians. For the seventh plague, fire and ice combine to descend from the skies as a devastating hail. Still, "the heart of Pharaoh was hardened and he would not let the children of Israel go, as G‑d had said to Moses." |
