gardening, a metaphor of our own inner i think it goes way beyond the water and the sun. Have you tried getting rid of the weeds that invade the garden? Look right after the rain, how they spread like vicious cancer choking the cherished plants you hoped to see grow and give flowers. Green thumbs are able to hold the "chutzpedick"green molester by the middle point and in one sudden swing yank the despised evil growth. Have you seen how your chosen plants react to your care? I have seen them smile back at me expanding breathing taking the room that they needed to "flourish".

I think I am mad. I was in Crown Heights for Gimmul Tamuz this year. But earlier I was at the ariport and was close to missing my flight. I passed by a man who was not wearing a kippa but spoke hebrew. I asked him to put on teffilin and he asked for tzizis. While this was taking place there was a certain voice in me saying, "are you mad, dont you know you have an expensive flight to catch, how can you stand here and even offer him tzizis". I replied to that voice, we are going to the Rebbe, do you think that putting teffilin on another Jew could make us late?

Thank you, R. Infinity, for harvesting a lovely "pearl; a teaching from our earthly mud-life cycle of experience that brings forth our heavenly counterpart energies: ray of light and sunshine from heaven.

read-learn For a long time i was one of those students, who read-learn. It turns out i really did not learn much. I was missing the nourishing sunshine of G-d that comes from prayer and meditation. To really learn something and put it into practice is a process that cannot be accomplished simply by reading. Now that I take the time to enjoy the sunshine, the fruits of my learning are manifesting. Thanks Rabbi, "Extreme Gardening" is brilliant! As always.

Soften The Soil- "...your earthiness needs to be softened."
In the lesson it seemed that the soil is a metaphor for the Torah that a person has learned. The Torah that is encompassed by the brain has to be softened and that is through prayer.

Alright, alright...
Since Bracha insists, I'll add a few more words of explanation:
SOFTEN THE SOIL: In order to absorb the waters of wisdom from Above, your earthiness needs to be softened. Don't feel so big about yourself. Leave room for the possibility that you may just be wrong, that there are ideas you don't yet understand.
This will also allow your roots to spread deeper, reaching back to traditions that came before you. You will recognize that those that came before you also had wisdom.
ABSORB THE SUNSHINE: It's not just a matter of collecting information. You need to absorb and be enlightened. Don't read--learn! Learning requires time basking in the light--contemplating, meditating, letting the words seep into your soul.
BEAR FRUITS: What's the litmus test for real spiritual growth? Inspired deeds. When all around you are benefiting from the beauty of your deeds, that's a sure sign of transformation. But remember, the best fruits take the longest time to ripe.

thanx i love kabalatoons the only think that i would humbly suggest to elaborate a little more on each subject, just because with the high visual stimulaton and sometimes deep concepts it's hard to catch all the gems.

I love the way this toon is constantly improving and becoming more sophisticated (in a positive way). The opening joke on this episode where the rabbi puts up his arms as though he's about to jump or ski and then it pans out to reveal him gardening was brilliant and very professional. Great work guys!

I enjoy flowers/wisdom Yes, I will try to get a bit more wisdom. That means, the ground has to be prepared.
I am 78 in the meanwhile. I should have not only a garden, but a park, full of flowers/
wisdom. But I don't. I lack so much. And sometimes I even forget to work on the soil.
